"People should be able to perform basic maintenance on themselves. It’s your human right." – Kelly Starrett, DPT, author, Becoming a Supple Leopard

Have a "bad" shoulder? Tweaky lower back? Maybe you don't have pain, but would you like to simply work on regaining lost range of motion? Want to age with less aches & pains and even improve functionality now?

Based on Sandy's Self Therapy Clinic® concept where she sees people 1-on-1, this series will have limited attandance so that you can get your questions answered in a small group setting.

Nov. 27 - SHOULDERS & NECK

Dec. 4 - LOWER BACK & CORE

Dec. 11 - HIPS & LEGS

Dec. 18 - KNEES & FEET

Learn how to take better care of your soft tissues in this empowering 4-week workshop series that will help you manage pain, help you prevent/recover from injuries and improve performance in all that you do.

Soft tissues are muscles, fascias, & joints interwoven with nerve or communication pathways. Your soft tissues are what gets stiff and sometimes painful. Left untreated, these are catalysts for pain, injury and reduced performance.

Learn effective self-massage sequences featuring The Roll Model® Method therapy balls and corrective exercises. Each class concludes with 15 minutes of yoga nidra relaxation. (Self-massage tools will be provided for use during workshop and available for purchase afterwards.)

Investment: $169/4-weeks or $49/drop-in per session

Sun Salutation - Its Tradition and Evolution

There are as many variations of Sun Salutation as styles of yoga. This weekend will look at the differences and why they differ, as well as create anatomical fluency to maximize the benefits of this core practice of yoga.

But beyond the physical practice of Sun Salutation, the practice has traditionally included chakra awareness and mantra chanting. Chakra awareness in asana is a form of purification. Bringing mantras into the practice adds a meditative and spiritual component.

Be a Student of Your Body - Student Workshop Series

What is my psoas?

What's the deal with sacrum? Where is it anyway? Hamstrings? Internal/External Rotation?

Saturday:

12:00pm-2:00pm: Basic Anatomy of Your Body
3:00pm-5:00pm: How the Body Works – Spine, Shoulders, Hips

Sunday:

12:00pm-2:00pm: Self Therapy for Tech Neck - (upper body focus)
3:00pm-5:00pm: Self Therapy for Desk-Bound Life - (lower body focus)

In this weekend of workshops, you will learn basic anatomy terms and meanings of things you hear in an everyday yoga class. We'll use a full skeleton, video, palpation, self-massage, some handouts, interactive exercises and more to explore the inner architecture of the body: the muscles, joints, bones and fascias and how these multiple layers of the body relate and function as a whole in all your movement practices. In addition to yoga “ alignment”, you will also learn how to spot dysfunctional patterns and tools for how to have greater confidence to self adjust in class.

Sunday’s workshops will apply the learning from Saturday and be a combination of self massage with various Roll Model® Method therapy balls, yoga and corrective exercises to supplement your practice.

It is recommended that you take the full weekend to get maximum learning, but you may also just enroll in one or both of Sundays workshops if that is what your schedule permits.

Empower yourself with self-knowledge. Get to know your own body better so you can feel your best!

**The curriculum is highly recommended for yogis of all levels, yoga teachers, teacher trainees, fitness instructors, coaches, athletes & movement educators of all kinds who desire to improve their anatomical fluency and make it accessible.

Bring your questions. Personal limitations are welcomed as this workshop is meant to be as practical as possible for the group’s participants.

For teachers: 8 CEC credits available with Yoga Alliance, as Sandy is a YACEP continuing education provider for Yoga Alliance.

Investment: $169/4-weeks or $49/drop-in per session. Enroll at Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/2zfnWI5

Being Empowered To Share What You've Learned
with Atmarupa & Sandy Gross, Mentors
Next: Jan 27, 2019
at 12:30 pm

This workshop is for Yoga Teachers and Teachers in Training.

You are deepening your practice, learning new concepts and techniques. You're excited to share this new knowledge with your students, but when and how will you integrate what you're learning in a way that excites your students, too?

This session will look at the adult learners' needs and how the different ways we learn, (auditory, visual, kinesthetic or mixed) can be accommodated in the same class.

We will also consider how we use language to convey our message; active vs. passive instructions, concise & accurate language, supportive & encouraging, correct use of Sanskrit terminology, and teacher talking time to enhance the students' experience.

Investment: Regularly $245 but register by January 1 and pay $200 - save $45!
