Be a Student of Your Body - Student Workshop Series

What is my psoas?

What's the deal with sacrum? Where is it anyway? Hamstrings? Internal/External Rotation?

Saturday:

12:00pm-2:00pm: Basic Anatomy of Your Body
3:00pm-5:00pm: How the Body Works – Spine, Shoulders, Hips

Sunday:

12:00pm-2:00pm: Self Therapy for Tech Neck - (upper body focus)
3:00pm-5:00pm: Self Therapy for Desk-Bound Life - (lower body focus)

In this weekend of workshops, you will learn basic anatomy terms and meanings of things you hear in an everyday yoga class. We'll use a full skeleton, video, palpation, self-massage, some handouts, interactive exercises and more to explore the inner architecture of the body: the muscles, joints, bones and fascias and how these multiple layers of the body relate and function as a whole in all your movement practices. In addition to yoga “ alignment”, you will also learn how to spot dysfunctional patterns and tools for how to have greater confidence to self adjust in class.

Sunday’s workshops will apply the learning from Saturday and be a combination of self massage with various Roll Model® Method therapy balls, yoga and corrective exercises to supplement your practice.

It is recommended that you take the full weekend to get maximum learning, but you may also just enroll in one or both of Sundays workshops if that is what your schedule permits.

Empower yourself with self-knowledge. Get to know your own body better so you can feel your best!

**The curriculum is highly recommended for yogis of all levels, yoga teachers, teacher trainees, fitness instructors, coaches, athletes & movement educators of all kinds who desire to improve their anatomical fluency and make it accessible.

Bring your questions. Personal limitations are welcomed as this workshop is meant to be as practical as possible for the group’s participants.

For teachers: 8 CEC credits available with Yoga Alliance, as Sandy is a YACEP continuing education provider for Yoga Alliance.

Investment: $169/all 4 sessions or $49/drop-in per session. Enroll at Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/2zfnWI5

Want to save money? Bring a friend and each pay $149 for the series, or each pay $39 for individual events. By check only for this discount - you'll also save Event Brite fees! Study Yoga Mentoring Group

Over the course of several waves of arrival in the U.S. from the 1930’s to the 1990’s, yoga has come to be one of the most popular forms of fitness, movement and mindfulness in America.

As two long-time area studio owners and yoga community builders, we’ve watched students get turned on to yoga, ask questions, and we’ve seen our students plateau. We aim to fortify our own practices and invite you to join us along the way. Together we’ll expand our understanding of both the gross and subtle practices of yoga.

What will you get?
- A deep dive into anatomy of the human body and become more anatomically fluent.
- A better understanding of the subtleties of pranayama, meditation and more.
- An exploration of the philosophy and psychology behind yoga.
- A place to ask questions and explore new techniques.
- A place to cultivate open-mindedness and critical thinking.
- The ability to integrate yoga more fully into your life and work.
- Motivation and inspiration to more fully commit to and build your practice.
- True ownership of your own unique practice.
- A welcoming, diverse community among lovers of yoga.

Investment:

$425 for 3 consecutive months (6 sessions)
$795 for 6 consecutive months (12 sessions)
$108 drop-in fee for each session.

PLUS, you get:
- Access to recordings of each session for further study
- Worksheets and handouts
- Free access to the Atma Center Library of over 1500 books, magazines and recordings
- Access to closed, private Facebook group to foster community
- $5 off drop-in fees at Atma Center
- Receive 30-hour credit* for continuing education for Yoga Alliance when you complete 30-hours of group sessions.
Credits will be uploaded directly to your YA account online.

Program is ongoing, join any time, space permitting. We have a cap of 15 people and will allow only 3 drop-ins per session.

*Atmarupa and Sandy Gross are approved YACEP continuing education providers as recognized by Yoga Alliance.

Forgiveness & Salutations - Lifestyle Yama & Niyama with Swami Atmarupa (Beverly Singh) Sat, Mar 2, 2019 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

On New Year's Day we began the process of Taming Our Demons - those negative parts of us that are at the foundation of our suffering. We learned about Desire, Anger, Greed, Infatuation, Arrogance and Envy. We also learned the first of the Lifestyle Yamas and Niyamas for modern living, the practices of Happiness and Japa.

We will briefly review and then move forward to embrace the second Lifestyle Yamas and Niyamas, the practices of Forgiveness and Salutation.

Each set can be a stand alone set of practices, so prior attendance is not required. Incorporating any one set into your life will make big changes!

The handout from the New Year's Day workshop will be made available for anyone that wishes to have it.
